Seeed have invented the Berlin Dance Hall and showed the music press in foreign countries, as Germany is casual. Now they release a new album and play a concert in Munich.
For the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung it was "the coming thing." Dancehall is the summer trend in general. In April 2001, the rapper-Beginner January Eißfeldt published under the name "Jan Delay" the solo album "Searching For The Jan Soul Rebels". German reggae with dub influences. The critics celebrated the plate.
Just a few weeks later, the dancehall caballeros. They call themselves "Seeed", her debut album is called "New Dubby Conquerors". Reggae with bass and Wobbe pretentious wind ensemble. The dance sound for the summer of 2001 is here. Four years later, after her third album, "Next!" Seeed 2005 are one of the greatest live acts in Germany. They play huge, much-acclaimed concerts - until they need a break in 2007.
The band is divided into solo projects of the three singers. Demba Nabé named his new band "Louder," Frank Delle identifies his project after the great success of himself remains. In contrast with Pierre Baigorry. He calls himself Peter Fox and published in 2008 the album "Stadtaffe". It is a love letter to Berlin - and the dancing. "Stadtaffe" sells more than a million copies and remains more than 100 days, number 1 on the German charts. Peter Fox has hit the zeitgeist, with coolness and flair-Kreuzberg, alternating between intoxication and hangover. The New York Times called it "Deutsch-permeability". Fox is celebrated as a hero.
Nevertheless: "Stadtaffe" should first be his only solo album. In 2010, Seeed put back into the studio - and all three singers are quite happy about it. Baigorry, because he, as he says, the hype surrounding him was too great. And Dell and Nabé because otherwise they probably would have ended the coal.
2011 are now finally the harbinger of a new Seeed album appeared. The driving dance number "Molotov" and the 80's cover of "Wonderful Life". Also played in the warm Dancehall Caballeros have been: for two spontaneous shows in the Kreuzberg Festival Hall and on four festivals last summer. When the new album will be released is yet to be determined. Determined but before November, because then the first Seeed tour begins after five years of break. On 20 November Seeed play in Munich's Olympic Hall. Tickets are available here.
